Amritsar
Founded in 1577 by Fourth Sikh Guru Ram Das, Amritsar today is a perfect blend of culture, cuisine, and history.
The city is home to Harmandir Sahib, popularly known is Golden Temple – The holiest Sikh shrine. It is today visited by people across religion and from all over the world. The place is also believed to be the site for Valmiki's Ashram and Luv and Kush's birthplace. The Jallianwala Bagh is a memorial of national importance and has preserved memories of people killed or wounded on 13th April 1919. Today, the town is well known for the Heritage Museum, Partition Museum, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum and Gobindgarh Fort. At the Indian-Pakistan Wagah border, 32 km from Amritsar, one must see the evening flag ceremony by both countries' Armed forces.
