UNWTO’s SDGs 2030

What do we want to achieve by 2030?

It's our responsibility to consider communities, culture, the environment, and our fellow humans in creating more conscious travel experiences.

We’ve chosen to focus on three key SDGs to make a real, measurable impact. By concentrating on areas where we can truly make a difference, we ensure our travel experiences benefit communities, culture, and the environment.
Guided by this three-pillar framework, every journey we design is mindful, sustainable, and contributes positively, helping tourism lead the way in restoring harmony between people, nature, and society.

SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth

We believe tourism should create meaningful livelihoods, especially for youth, women, and local communities.

How we practice this:

  • We work closely with local guides, artisans, hosts, and small family-run enterprises, ensuring fair compensation and dignified working conditions.
  • We prioritise long-term partnerships over short-term transactions, allowing communities to build stable income streams.
  • We support skill development by involving local partners in curated travel experiences that enhance their professional exposure and confidence.

SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities

We believe tourism should be inclusive, respectful, and rooted in local voices.

How we practice this:

  • We consciously include underrepresented communities, rural regions, and lesser-known destinations in our itineraries.
  • Experiences are designed with local participation, ensuring communities have agency in how their stories are shared.
  • We encourage travellers to engage meaningfully, fostering mutual respect and cultural understanding.

SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production

We believe responsible travel begins with mindful choices—by both hosts and travellers.

How we practice this:

  • We promote low-impact travel practices such as walking tours, local transport, and minimal-waste experiences.
  • We work with accommodations and partners who prioritise sustainable practices, such as reducing plastic use and conserving resources.
  • We educate travellers on responsible behaviour, encouraging them to respect local environments and cultures.
