Climate change is real. Travel must respond too.

Our Climate Action Plan for Sustainable Travel

Traveling responsibly, reducing our footprint, and empowering communities for a sustainable future!

At Immerse India, travel is about connection with culture, people, and nature. We recognise that tourism has an environmental impact, and as a responsible travel company in India, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint, measuring our progress, and reporting our climate action transparently.

Sustainability is not just a principle

It is a daily practice. To honour our commitment under the Glasgow Declaration, we work closely with our partners and local NGOs to measure emissions, minimise environmental impact, and continuously improve our practices.

Our Climate Action Plan provides a clear roadmap for action

It focuses on reducing the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions across our operations and itineraries while promoting responsible tourism and sustainable travel practices, built around three priorities: accurately measuring emissions, reducing their intensity across journeys, and educating partners and travellers to take climate action.

Responsible tourism can be a force for positive change

Through this approach, we aim to make travel a force for positive change, protecting destinations' heritage, empowering communities, and contributing to a more resilient future.

Why Climate Action Matters

As proud signatories of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, we align our work with global climate goals and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring every journey reflects our commitment to sustainable travel for people, planet, and future generations.

We design travel with purpose, respecting communities, cultures, and the environment, which helps build a more conscious and responsible tourism. With the support of our global travel partners and local communities, we endeavour to ensure that every journey creates a positive impact without leaving a carbon footprint.

Our Approach: Measure, Reduce, Engage

The science is clear: The planet can still be saved, and the journey can continue only if we travel responsibly and preserve the world's beauty for generations to come.

Our approach to climate action is simple and practical: measure what matters, reduce what we can, and engage everyone involved. By combining data-driven decisions with responsible tourism design and collective action, we turn intention into meaningful impact.

Measure Our Footprint

We measure and analyse emissions from office to itinerary, using data-driven insights to identify hotspots and reduce our travel footprint.

1. Our Priorities

Office Efficiency per FTE (Scope 1 & 2 Emission)

We monitor energy use, travel, and workplace activities to measure our direct emissions. This includes electricity consumption, heating and cooling, company vehicles, and business travel.

Sustainable Travel Programs (Scope 3)

Each trip is assessed for emissions generated by ground transport, stays, local activities, and other high-impact areas, such as bus routes, hotel energy use, or excursion activities.

Suppliers Sustainability (Scope 3 Emission)

We measure the environmental performance of our supply chain partners, including hotels, activity providers, and local operators, for a sustainable travel.

2. Understand Travel-related Impact

Our itineraries are analyzed for Scope 3 emissions (excluding air travel), including:

3. Use Data to Drive Action

Reduce Emissions

We take measurable steps from office to itinerary to reduce travel’s impact and ensure responsible tourism and regenerative experiences.

1. Our Priorities

Office Efficiency (Scope 1 & 2)

- Adopted energy-efficient systems, smart lighting, remote-first policies
- Encourage paperless operations and sustainable workplace practices

Sustainable Travel Design (Scope 3)

- Launch slow travel, optimised routing, low-carbon transport options
- Trips emphasise fewer destinations, longer stays, and locally-led experiences

Suppliers Sustainability (Scope 3)

- We partner with hotels, activity providers, and local operators those following energy, water, and waste management standards

2. Travel-Related Impact

3. Use Data to Drive Action

Educate & Offset

We reduce emissions, educate communities and partners, and support verified climate solutions to ensure every journey benefits the planet and society.

1. Our Priorities

Partner Engagement (Scope 1, 2 & 3)

- Work with hotels, activity providers, and local operators to embed sustainability practices
- Share knowledge, best practices, and measurable targets with staff and partners

Travellers' Education (Scope 3)

- Guide travellers on low-carbon choices, eco-friendly hotels, and responsible travel behavior
- Integrate sustainability into the travel experience

Responsible Offsetting (Scope 3)

- Invest in verified carbon reduction projects: reforestation, renewable energy, and community-based conservation
- Ensure transparency, impact, and alignment with visited communities

Transparent Reporting (In Agenda)

- Track, measure, and publicly report all emissions reduction and offset initiatives
- Annual disclosure ensures accountability and continuous improvement

*We have already reduced energy consumption by operating in an office with abundant natural light, optimising electricity usage, and implementing flexible work policies such as work-from-home and rotating shifts. For our team of 20 full-time staff, the average CO₂ emissions is 5 tCO₂e per employee per year.

Understanding Our 2025 Carbon Footprint (Non-Air)

A detailed snapshot of emissions from operations and on-ground travel experiences, forming the foundation for responsible tourism and our climate action roadmap.

Immerse India’s non-air travel footprint is currently low to moderate, with only essential corporate travel included. Domestic flights remain a key area for improvement, though virtual events could enable further reductions in future years.

Targets are intensity-based, linking emissions to per-FTE and per-passenger metrics to decouple business growth from environmental impact, ensuring that every journey supports emissions reduction and sustainable travel practices.

Our 2030 Climate Action Targets

Looking to the future, we have set ambitious targets for 2030 to reduce, manage, and transform our non-air travel emissions while promoting responsible tourism practices. By implementing these measures, we aim to lower our corporate emissions intensity by 10% as our business grows.

Our Progress

This report outlines our environmental, social, and governance actions—rooted in the belief that travel must help restore balance between nature, people, and local communities. It highlights the steps we’re taking today to shape a more sustainable, regenerative, and responsible tourism future.
